Retool Developer
The Role
We're looking for a Retool Developer to own and build the tooling that keeps every team in the company running efficiently: our internal Retool infrastructure.
You'll be the person teams come to when they need a dashboard, an admin UI, or a way to operate their systems without engineering support - and you'll have the autonomy to decide how to solve those problems.
This is a high-ownership, high-visibility role sitting within the Engineering team, with direct impact on how the whole company operates day to day. We're looking for someone curious and hands-on - someone who gets excited about solving problems across the business, moves fast, and genuinely enjoys working with the people they're building for.
You must have significant and proven Retool expertise for the job. You must be a self-starter with high agency, caring about providing value for all internal stakeholders.
What You'll Do
- Own the internal Retool tooling stack - take full responsibility for building, maintaining, and improving all internal tools across the company, including admin UIs, CRUD interfaces, and data dashboards.
- Partner with every team - work directly with teams across the company to understand their workflows, identify bottlenecks, and build tools that let them move faster without depending on Engineering for routine operations.
- Build for speed, not perfection - ship working solutions quickly, gather feedback, and iterate - a tool that's live and useful today beats a perfectly engineered one that ships in three months.
- Build automation, notifications, and alerting - set up workflows that surface the right information to the right people at the right time, so teams don't have to manually check dashboards or chase status updates.
- Turn data into usable insights - build dashboards and reporting interfaces that give teams direct access to the data they need to make decisions, without requiring SQL or data engineering support.
What We're Looking For
Must-have experience:
- Expert Retool experience - you must know Retool in and out!
- Strong data fundamentals - understands how databases and datastores work, can model data sensibly, write efficient queries, and choose the right storage tool for the job.
- Proven experience integrating APIs, including messy real-world issues like auth, pagination, and error handling.
- Strong Javascript and SQL skills
- Able to take a vague problem, talk to the people affected, scope it into something buildable, and ship without much oversight.
- Generalist background with experience across a wide range of tools, frameworks, and problem types - you're not attached to a single stack and can pick up whatever the job needs.
Nice to have:
- Background in Developer Experience or internal platform work.
- Strong product sense and attention to UX - internal tools are still products, and you care about building interfaces that people actually enjoy using.
About IPinfo

We started as a side project back in 2013, offering a free geolocation API, and we've since bootstrapped ourselves to a profitable business with a global team of over 60 people, and grown our data offerings to include geolocation, IP to company, carrier detection, and VPN detection. How We Work
We have an ambitious team, spread all over the globe. We sync up on a monthly all-hands Zoom call, and most teams do a call together every 2 weeks. Everything else happens asynchronously, via Slack, GitHub, Linear, and Notion. That means you can pick the hours that work best for you, to allow you to be at your most productive.
To thrive in this environment you'll need to have high levels of autonomy and ownership. You have to be resourceful and able to work effectively in a remote setup.
